gill arno was born in italy and lives in brooklyn, ny. his work explores areas where sound and image overlap, and is often constructed with found objects and found sound. in the project mpld he utilizes two old modified slide projectors to create performances where static images become pulsating and fade continuously into one another. the projectorsí mechanical sounds are tapped and manipulated to reveal their musical potential.

he often collaborates with other sound and visual artists. on contour editions his work has previously appeared on ea/variations (ce.onl_0003) and on dermis project (ce.onl_0015). other activities include publishing music via his own small label, unframed recordings, graphic design for various other record labels, and organizing concerts, including the event series that ran for about ten years in his brooklyn studio, fotofono (http://www.fotofono.net). in his latest film/video project he animates the process of heat radiating and dissipating through three-dimensional bodies. it was first performed at the experimental intermedia concert series in december 2020; documentation of that performance is available at experimental intermedia concerts
