tmm mulligan (b. 1967) is an artist based in brooklyn, nyc. from a background of painting and anthropology he has worked toward sound as a medium and artifact for the past decade. his favorite tools include a tape measure, binaural microphones, small radios and smaller electronics, old data spindles and a bicycle. he has installed sonic architectural constructions and currently works with improvised sound in experimental contexts. producing collaborative work under the name radio ruido, he works with radio as an instrument to explore the electromagnetic ecology. in the process communication systems are shifted and scattered into new positions shift as social structures are temporarily repurposed for critique . tmm currently hosts x>triangulation>x , a weekly web event that hosts a rotating forum of sound artists and improvisations which attempts to map out a shapes within a contemporary soundscape. recent collaborators include ben owen, richard kammerman and che chen. tmm has exhibited at such spaces as deitch projects, white box, and participant, inc., nyc; at the contemporary museum in baltimore; and the center for contemporary art ujadowski castle in warsaw, poland.
